Finally its here! The long awaited magazine for youths. Be In Between launched and produced by OGCEYOD Cameroon/ASYOUSED in February 2011 at the Limbe council Hall. The opening ceremony was graced by the youths of Limbe and it was at this ceremony when it was baptized ‘The Magazine for youths, by youths and with youths’.
The primary objective of the magazine is to support young talent, give the youths of Limbe an opportunity to develop their writing skills, inform the readers and to encourage research. The magazine’s editors-in-chief at that time, Paula Menzel and Lea Kamp, were so proud of the success recorded so far. They gave a hearty thank you speech to both their host organizations and the ‘In between’- Team who have made their success possible. The first edition of the magazine focused on peer pressure, environmental education and corporate social responsibility.
The subsequent editions have all followed suit but what made a difference is that no edition has been the same. By the end of the last academic year, the magazine had its fourth edition already. This was a huge success and has been in circulation in and out of the Limbe Municipality. It had its’ first distribution at the finals of the Paco Melville Junior Foot Ball Tournament that took place at the Limbe Centenary Stadium on August 23rd 2011. It was also distributed at this year’s 12th Edition of the University on Youth and Development Seminar, that took place in Mollina, Spain from the 18th-25th of September 2011.
Seminar participants who received this magazine were very proud of the initiative and congratulated and welcomed the inspiration, works and initiatives of Cameroonian youths. With such magnificent recommendations from the international community, prospects of the ‘In Between Magazine’ collaborating with other foreign bodies are not far fetched. It will be a great opportunity to give youths from both cultures a platform for intercultural exchange. This year, the ‘In between’ team is glad to welcome its new editors-in -chief Louisa Dione Well and Jana Eposi Binder, both from Germany to volunteer in Cameroon for another one year. Being in Cameroon for two months now, both volunteers are already working with the team for the next edition of the magazine. Their weekly meetings take place every Wednesday at 3:30 pm at Saker Baptist College. So far they are doing great and all fingers are crossed for what will make news in the magazine this time.
