After
going through a gestation period of a year, the people of Ekombe Bonji
through OGCEYOD finally received funding from the German Embassy,
Cameroon and Agric International, Cameroon. This funding will be used to
educate farmers on new cocoa farming techniques, maximizing production
on their farmland, inter cropping, management of their material and
financial resources, setting up a nursery, construct an oven as well as
donated some materials and equipment to help them get the best out of
their farms and enjoy a better livelihood free from poverty after sales
of their produce.
Several meeting have already been held
with council of the area and farmers who will benefit from the project.
The building housing the oven and the oven are presently under
construction and the management of OGCEYOD envisages first round of
donation of materials and equipment in August 2012 when the construction
of the oven is completed. That same day, farmers will also be trained
on the topics highlighted above.
